Originally organized for the first time in 2015 by Stanford University in the US, WiDS is now a Global Conference with 150+ regional events hosted by WiDS Ambassadors from all over the world.

The Romanian event features more than 40 women data scientists from all sectors: industry, government, academia and civil society., and our sessions are centered around topics such as Public Policies based on data science, e-Health, implementation of Ethics in AI, current EU trends (prevention – the use of a bias AI), How Data Science will Impact The Labour Market and Education, OLAP, The importance of Data Privacy related to the usage of AI and big data analytics, how to become a data scientist – advice from practitioners, the science behind data analysis, and much more!

In 2020 the WiDS Worldwide conference reached over 100,000 people across the globe, online and in person, with 20,000+ attendees at WiDS Stanford and 150+ WiDS regional events in 50+ countries.
The Women in Data Science Worldwide initiative was launched with a one-day technical conference at Stanford University in November 2015. The inaugural conference livestream was watched by 6,000+ people from all around the world, indicating an opportunity for global impact.
Since then, the WiDS has become more of a global movement, featuring a conference, a datathon, a podcast series, and an education outreach program.
1. To inspire participants about exciting areas of research and application in data science by highlighting models and demonstrating the wide variety of opportunities in data field.
2. To educate all participants, regardless of gender, about the latest research and state-of-the-art technologies, challenges and future trends.
3. To support women in the field of data science, helping them to gain exposure for their work, and energizing them to continue to pursue opportunities related to data science and AI.
